Cat update

I went to look at some rescue kitties today. Honestly, I'm just not ready for another cat.

When I am, I'll probably get a couple of little guys, like the ones in the photo.

No Alex?

Two would be twice the plushiness. But you wait til you're good and ready...

I truly believe that the cat chooses the moment, not us. Whether the next plushy shows up at the back door or you find yourself stopping at the pet supply place for no particular reason only to find it is adoption day and a pair of green/gold eyes is saying "take me home. NOW!", they truly choose the time.

Lord, those big ears are sooo cute!

Yes, yes two cats are better than one. So say Silver and Silky, the two furry brothers who grace our home.

Admittedly, I never then meant to have three furballs shedding all over the house. But their Mom delivered the boys on my sofa (in a proper delivery box).

Their little calico sister found a home, but the boys liked the service here and declined to move on.

Now we agree, two cats are better than one.

No Alex?

No Alex.

He was sweet, but he has health problems and it wasn't love at first sight. I immediately started comparing him to Maxx.

I'm taking that as a sign that I'm not ready.

Well, thanks for the update. I think Maxx will send you his replacement when he knows you're ready. He knows you best, after all.

Yeah, I think so too.

Having two fabulous maine coons in a row (Zach and then Maxx) have spoiled me for ordinary cats.

I always figured I would want to have two kitties so they could keep each other company while I was away.

Of course, this assumes that they would get along...

Eli, I've never had kitties that didn't get along.

Zach and Nikki didn't love each other, but they still played together.

Other than Ira and his (late) brother Rufus, who got along famously, none of my cats have gotten along with each other. quite the opposite. But I think you're on the right track- if you get them at the same age when they're young, it should work out fine.

And I agree with those that said that the cat will most likely find you/pick the moment. and it's likely not to be the moment or the cat that you might think you'd pick at first. That's been my experience with cats.

I vote for Main coons. They are gorgeous and I always want to cuddle them.

GWPDA, yes, Zachary looked like that as a baby- his ears were like radar dishes. Hilarious.

Them's some purty kiddens.

One of each gender might work well....like a male orange tabby and a calico?
