Okay, please leave your suggestions for kitten names in comments. I won't actually name her until I get her home and see what she's like and see what fits, but I'm sure you guys can come up with some great ideas.

Evangeline is not too grand. My daughter had a cat named Pouncer Bouncer Upside-down Sir.

But I do like Miriamne too.

  7. I really liked "Suzanne Plushette," which some other reader proposed (mnkid, maybe?).

    Maxxine?
    Fleurette (Little Flower)?
Nola, in honor of a great and vanished American city?
Corazon, again in honor of Maxx
    Dulcinea?
    Esperanza?
    Shanti (peace)?
    Anjali (flower offering)?
Stella (her little face looks just like a star)
    Sayang (Beloved, Darling)

I love her little barleycorn toes. You know, she looks a lot like what Maxx must've looked like, as a kitten. I bet she grows up to resemble him.

  8. When I was pregnant with my son, I joked that I had used up all of the good names on the cats.

I think she looks like a Molly.

    Daisy..........or Emma.

Oh, she is just so darn cute I can't stand it. Don't you just want to kiss that little NOSE?!?!?!

I see that sweet face and the name Grace comes to mind. Princess Grace when she's being elegant (which she will, as she grows up) and Gracie Allen when she's being comical.

    Grace
    Gracie
    Graziella
Grazie is Italian for thank you, and wouldn't it be just fitting to say "Thank you" for the wonderfulness that is kiddenz whenever you see that sweet little face?

    How about Mimi?

That's one of my favorite names, and it's short and repetitive, which is supposed to be a good thing for the animal vis-a-vis learning its name.

She's really a delicious kidden. How could you not fall in love with that face?

I vote for Stella. Because a star is sort of like a comet (unfortunately, the word for "comet" is pretty much "comet" in most languages). And also she looks like the kind of born princess who'll be able to handle internet stardom with aplomb.

  21. Yay!! Finally I can get in!

I still think she looks elvish, so I'm gonna stick with arwen or eowyn or galadriel...tho that last might be too regal for such a little imp.

Or starbuck....but you don't even like the show.

i'm not going to name your cat for you.

but if it was my going to be my cat, and jenny already suggested this down below, the nick would be sweetness.

Liza. As in Doolittle, not Minelli. Although she clearly is not a street urchin.

I think she looks like Audrey Hepburn.

I like names will Ls and Ss -- sibilent names. Of course, her name will find her. My cat, Hillary, is really Little Girl. Ashton is usually "You fuking idiot, why did you do that?" Of course, my Lola is Lola Pearl (she's completely white).

Maybe you should get two kittens, they're small...

    Hurrah! Hurray! Huzzah!

I'm so glad you've met an additional love in your life.

But Four Legs, your heart is big enough to love two new kitties. Do get the new little darling a companion to play with, and snuggle up to while you're at work.

When you adopted Maxx, wasn't he too ill to want a playmate? But this fuzzball is full of vitality … she'll need company. And she'll thank you for a buddy, when they both come bounding up to greet you coming in the door.

    MOLLY!

Though "Rosie", (ala Molly Ivors' 7yr. old) is good too. She is pretty as a rose, but Molly … sounds like she might grow up to be a revolutionary.

I am partial to Nola, Buttercup (that's a great suggestion!), Fleur and Emma, oh, and Hermione for sure. Hermione because she has beautiful wild hair and is an adorable witch that has bespelled our hearts with our easy permission!
I would like to submit "Ninon" from the famous 17th C French courtesan, Ninon de Lenclos. Elegant, beautiful and a bit naughty but classy.
A silly suggestion - "Hallmark" cuz Maxx cares only to send you his very best!
I can't wait to see more pics of the kitteh!!! :)

  30. 4lg, I don't care what you name her, as long as she makes you happy.

    Best wishes.

Naming cats is an art form. However, I agree with geor3ge, no matter what ya name her, make each other happy.

Live with her for a while, a name will usually come about from something she does.

    Good for you 4LG.

That was my coon cat's name passed away a few months ago, I miss her so much! Waited till I could rescue another cat. Rosie's master passed away from cancer so I got her:

  41. I like the name Judy for the kitty.

When I first saw her, though, I thought of Scout, from To Kill a Mockingbird. Wide-eyed and ready for anything. But there's already a Eschaton Scout.

    Maybe Harper?

  42. Glad you're waiting to see what fits for her. And you know, you don't even have to decide right away. We lived with Gramsci for three weeks and went through several naming attempts before we found the name that was just right. (And he still knows his name (even comes when called! Weird!) so it didn't hurt his sense of self!)

I like most of the names that've been suggested, but I'm so curious which ones the kitty will like!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oooh, I like Scout.

But Miriam's right, I'll have to wait and see what fits her.

It took me a couple of days to name Zachary. I had another name for him but it didn't stick. (can't remember what)

On the fourth day Zachary just popped into my head. And it fit.

  45. I like Rosie (as in Ther's Rosie - but that may indicate a rather daring and assertive personality).

    Mimi sounds sweet, too.

Athena is my choice, although I also offer Venus. Look to the west just after sunset.

Don't name her Poopyman. I found out the hard way that they hate that. Of course, that's not his real name, but Tux hates it when I call him that.

  47. How about M'Lady?

    Maddy?

  48. Does she have 4 white feet?
    Boots
    Bootsie

    Minx

    Ummm, okay, I won't..

Hopefully she won't need to be called that.

    Aubergine

In English it's eggplant, in French it's aubergine...says a lot about them and us.
Not that aubergine would have any significance, I just think it's a beautiful word.

Much love to you and the new kitty...Maxx would approve.

  51. Another couple:

    Coquette (she's looks like one)

Cookie (she's so delicious, you just want to eat her up)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Since she is coming from Ft. Worth Tx., why not Dallas?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous10:15 PM

you could call her Bon Anne or Annie for short.

She looks like she will be the delight of your life. We will all miss Maxx, but I know that I will look forward to the chronicles of her life with you. Thank you for sharing her with us.

    Best, Hellkitty
