Plushy at last

The girls, engaging in their latest most fave kitteh activity- birdie watching.

Sorry for the dearth of plushiness- I was out of town for a few days.

Oh, and pics are high resolution for your plushy enjoyment.

Obama stood in for Teddy Kennedy at Saturday's commencement at Wesleyan. From his speech:
Each of you will have the chance to make your own discovery in the years to come. And I say “chance” because you won’t have to take it. There’s no community service requirement in the real world; no one forcing you to care. You can take your diploma, walk off this stage, and chase only after the big house and the nice suits and all the other things that our money culture says you should buy. You can choose to narrow your concerns and live your life in a way that tries to keep your story separate from America’s.

But I hope you don’t. Not because you have an obligation to those who are less fortunate, though you do have that obligation. Not because you have a debt to all those who helped you get here, though you do have that debt.

It’s because you have an obligation to yourself. Because our individual salvation depends on collective salvation. Because thinking only about yourself, fulfilling your immediate wants and needs, betrays a poverty of ambition. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential and discover the role you’ll play in writing the next great chapter in America’s story.
Won't it be delightful to have a president who speaks english and appeals to the best in all of us?

Transcript of the entire speech can be found here.

I've been trying to post these two pictures for a couple of days. CURSE YOU BLOGGER!!!

Scruffers

This is my stepmother's cat Scruffers. She was apparently part of a litter that was allowed to run wild in the neighborhood- Scruffers "adopted" my stepmother, apparently deciding the grub was better there.

Sadly, my stepmother is moving to California and can't take Scruffers with her- so she's going to stay with a friend who is trying to find her a permanent home.

She's a really sweet, talkative kitteh- I would have adopted her myself, but Scruffers is accustomed to being an inside/outside kitteh. Also, my small abode is probably too small for three kittehs.

Good luck Scruffers, I hope you find a lovely place to live.

More Brooklyn Bridge

Our very own caminante took some very nice photos of the Brooklyn Bridge this past December during a light snowfall. Here's a couple I particularly liked:

You can see the rest of her bridge photos on her blog here.

Updated to correct my confusion over caminante's gender. Whoops!!
