Meet Madeleine
The kitten has landed! Sorry for the wait, but today was a really long day- seven hours in the car for me, and over 3 for her. She didn't like being confined to the carrier in the car, but there were so many huge trucks on the road, I felt like having a kitten run about the car while I was trying to drive wouldn't be very safe.
She's hilarious- funny and playful and curious. Just a busy little thing. She's got quite a little motor, and she's already 'trilling,' something maine coons do. Now I think it's time for both of us to go back to bed- she's sleeping on my desk, close by, but I think she'd prefer to sleep on me.
She has a funny little face, no? I loves me her outrageous whiskers and eyebrows. So funny. I have pics of her litter mates and Mom and Dad. I'll post some of those tomorrow.
Updated to correct the spelling of her name. (thanks Plum P.!)

Squishes and silly noises to you both.

Sherwood, I have a Canon 20D, with various lenses- but my workhorse is the 24-70 2.8L lens.
OH!!!! MY!!! GOD!!!
Hello, Madeleine, you adorable thing!!!
Too cute! She's gonna grow into those ears.
Madeleine. what a perfect little lacy name with that subtext of mischievousness.
Holy mother of dog, she is too freaking cute for words. Congrats to the both of you.
Must. Scritch. Ears.
That face was made for scritching. And those whiskers are outrageous.
How'd you decide on Madeline? During the car ride?
I think I hear Maxx purring approval, don't you?
You and little Maddy rest today. You had a long day yesterday.
Wow, Maxx and now Madeline - how do you find these absolutely stunning critters?
Our Will is a handsome tabby and I love him, but... Madeline's whiskers! Those ear tufts! Those eyes! Gorgeous.
Awesome! Congrats on the precious kittiepoose!
.
We will love to see you grow up, Madeleine!
Flory, I liked Maddie, so originally it was going to be Madison.
And then Madeleine popped into my head. Seems right to me.
About the name: use the spelling you pronounce, 4LG.
"Madeline" does exist in french, but it's more rare. It's pronounced Mad-e-lynn
"Madeleine" is the most common use in french but it's pronounced differently: Mad-e-lane
i don't want to confuse you, so there, choose the spelling you pronounce, sweet Fourlegs.
In any case, that little super furry animal is dead lucky to have you as a parent. We sure know how much you love your bits of plush.
Long Life to both of you!!!
Congratulations!
Plum, people spell it both ways here, but pronounce both the same way.
I like the french spelling better.
What a sweetie! May you have lots and lots of fun with her. BTW my great-niece spells her name Madeline so there are variations out there.
Isn't she *beautiful*! Aren't those whiskers just *insane*? What a sweet baby you've adopted! Congratulations, 4lg, and won't it be wonderful to wake up to that funny little face every day, and watch that amazed little someone grow up. Oh congratulations 4lg, and welcome to the blogosphere, little Madeleine!!
She's already growing into her face -- looks much different from the little round kitten face in her previous pictures. Lovely lucky baby to have a centaur in her life and Maxx to show her the way. Maxx is smiling his Maxxie grin, I'm sure, knowing his centaur will have another little critter to care for.
How can so much cuteness exist in one itty bitty kitty?
Madeleine is beautiful. Happy napping to you both.
We'll check back for more photos tomorrow. Or once an hour from now on, but whatever. ;)
What big eyes you have, little kitten! All the better to see Uncle Maxx with. Does she train her whiskers and eyebrows on you when you talk to her? Bandicoot does that, it is the most extraordinary thing.
