Petcasso!!

Okay, this is something I learned about today. Visit Petcasso.com to see some of the most amazing pet portraits ever. Holy moly!!

While at lunch today a colleague told me about a mutual friend who had commissioned a portrait of his kitties from the artist- so I had to go visit. Now I know there are is a small cottage industry out there of pet portraiture, but this is in a whole 'nuther league. How perfectly delightful!! Check out the portrait of the chinese crested.

Petcasso is the business of Manhattan based artist Luis Ramos. He takes photos of your furry friend and captures him/her in the style of the old masters, in oil on canvas. Take a look at the gallery, all the portraits are wonderful.

Sigh. I'll bet Arthur J. would look delightful in oil, eh?

Blogger, just in case there's any question, sucks in its new incarnation...

As I was saying, very cool, and many thanks for sharing.

Which is why I'm still with the old version.

Hmmm....wonder how much he charges? Mebbe all us Plushyfans™ out there could pitch in for a portrait of Maxx?

That "My Maxx" pitcher downstairs would make a wonderful portrait.

Ah, you're so sweet. I'm guessing he's really, really expensive.

But it would be fun to have a portrait of Maxx in a study that looked like it belonged to Gallileo or something, eh?

This blogger has a very comical take on her family of cats:

This reminds me that I used to take my kids when they were little to the National Galleries in D.C. for a tour of great pet art. I still go back to a picture of Diana with a hunting dog licking her leg. So lovely.
