Mystery plant

I don't know what this is. I came home from running on Sunday and smelled some heavenly bloom (rather like honeysuckle) and followed the scent to this bush.

I don't think honeysuckle grows in a bush, does it?

Anyhoo, the picture is cool and green, and it's freaking HOT here. Someone kill me now. 97 degrees in May.

It looks like it might be clethra alnifolia - also known as sweet pepperbush or summersweet. It's very fragrant.

I vote for Mock Orange bush.

Honeysuckle is more of a vine (I have some growing outside). I think lesliet nailed it.

Mock orange has serrated opposite leaves, I think. This bush has three smoove leaflets, yes?

I did a google Image search for "summersweet" and I don't think the leaves match up.

IOW, it still seems to be a mystery.

Oops. Upon further search, I found this.

So it probably is clethra.

99 degrees today (at 3:30 pm). At least it's a "dry" heat, heh heh.

In the sixties in Minneapolis today. This has been one of the coldest springs I can remember. We had to turn the furnace back on over the weekend.

Trade ya!

I think it is Nandina - also known as heavenly Bamboo.

I have some growing in front of my house and it's blooming too.
