More photos from the American Museum of Natural History
From the Evolution of Man gallery, they have a lovely reproduction of some of the amazing cave paintings from Lascaux, France.
This is a close up detail of a mask in the gallery that displays indian art from the northwest tribes. I'm not sure what this one is all about, though it makes me think of brain eating zombies.
Another mask- this one had a face inside a face.

BRAINSSS!!
I hope Eli was there......
flory
Eli was, and we actually had a serious discussion about brain eating in the middle of the mineral and gem gallery. A woman nearby burst out laughing.
I said, "Madam, brain eating zombies are no laughing matter."
Is that an ancient fossilized bowling ball that the brain eating zombie is gnawing on?
dood those paintings are almost 5,000 years old!!!
