More Photos

These photos look like black and whites, but they're not. They are close-up details of the largest stibnite on display in the world, currently being exhibited at the Museum of Natural History.

Details here: AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY UNVEILS SPECTACULAR NEW MINERAL SPECIMEN

The stibnite weighs half a ton, and looks like something from another world.

Cool.

When I was growing up in Chicago, and we'd visit the Field Museum, first room was always rocks and minerals.

I would like to have a stibnite. So would Arthur. We would take good care of it.

Would you like our Fedex number?

It was the most amazing mineral exhibit I've even seen. Simply otherworldly.
