UR tuesday gurlz kittehs

The were both sulking when I left this morning. For what it's worth, I wish I could work from home too.

Maddie has a new routine- when I get home in the evening, I always see her little haid in the window of my bedroom, which overlooks the parking lot. As soon as I get out of the car she immediately runs to the front window to wait for me to come up the walk so she can greet me at the door.

It's nice to be missed.

It always amazes and touches me the way our pets signal their love and neediness for our attention. I have a key to a friend's apartment which I use if I get to her place first in the evening. Her cat Chumley, sweetly greets me, then sits by the door expectantly, occasionally looking over at me, as if to say "where IS she?"

Nothing better than having a sweet, furry friend greet you after a long day at work. Blood pressure drops instantly.

Ahwww, Maddie is a sweet little thing. Thinking ahead to make her Centaur feel good.

Did the gurlz play the drinking game last night, watching Georgie W.?

My gurlz do dat too! My bedroom window also overlooks the parking lot, and one or both are usually sitting there when I come home. Then they run to the front door for a greeting session!

Earlier today, somebody in the Atrios comments (ProfWombat?) posted FDR's famous Fala speech. Was wondering what became of her so I Wikied.

Found this very touching:

In April 1945, Roosevelt died in Warm Springs of a cerebral hemorrhage. Fala attended the funeral and went to live with the widowed Eleanor Roosevelt at Val-Kill. She often mentioned Fala in her newspaper column, "My Day."

"It was Fala, my husband's little dog, who never really readjusted. Once, in 1945, when General Eisenhower came to lay a wreath on Franklin's grave, the gates of the regular driveway were opened and his automobile approached the house accompanied by the wailing of the sirens of a police escort. When Fala heard the sirens, his legs straightened out, his ears pricked up and I knew that he expected to see his master coming down the drive as he had come so many times. Later, when we were living in the cottage, Fala always lay near the dining-room door where he could watch both entrances just as he did when his master was there. Franklin would often decide suddenly to go somewhere and Fala had to watch both entrances in order to be ready to spring up and join the party on short notice. Fala accepted me after my husband's death, but I was just someone to put up with until the master should return."

Ripley is often in the front window as well. She'll bleat at me through the glass and then run to the front door.

Henriette does that as well. As soon as she hears the garage door opening, she waits by the door for me. And then, i always go to the toilet, she comes with me, sit on the bath ledge and expect me to give her treats and then wait for me to open the tap so she can have a drink as well. It's the same ritual every day!

this is Henriette's drinking problem:

Doggies do it, too, of course. Our deeply superb pug, Albert, first did it as a little 3-month-old by appearing at the back door one afternoon when I arrived home, driving up into the adjacent driveway. I looked over at the door, and there was the black pug nose pressed against the glass - and then he gave that eager little bucking bounce, and I've been HIS ever since.

Isn't it nice, 4LG, to be so loved and missed?

Yes it is.

Thank you very much, 4LG and gurlz, for your wonderful posts. I can feel my blood pressure drop just by coming to the site. You all deserve much love and gratitude (and mousies AND a book deal) for the good you spread on the innerwebs.

HarryCat sings his little VRRT VRRT VRRT! song to me at the door every evening. If I'm late, or if it's good (read: not wet or below freezing) weather outside so he can play outside, and I'm walking up to the door, I also see him fumbling with the sheers on the door, trying to pull it back to see me. It reminds me of how Johnny Carson used to sort of fumble with the curtain before he made his entrance, and I always get tickled. Hee!

By the way, gurlz, I had no idea it was possible for y'all to grow more beautiful every day, but you do. PurinaOne and lots of hugs and snuggles are certainly good for you! You are taking good care of your centaur in return. Love to all.
