Maddie Update

There is good news and terrifying news.

The good news is that Maddie got the rest of her booster shots and, out of caution, we did blood work and a urine test to check for possible kidney damage. The results showed that everything is normal so she gets a clean bill of health. Apparently she didn't eat enough of the contaminated food to do any damage. Whew!! What a relief.

The terrifying news is that they weighed her and she weighs..... a wopping 5 lbs. 3 oz. At sixteen weeks.

Holy. Crap.

She didn't enjoy her little trip much even though everyone made a big fuss over her, including Maxx's doctor, the wonderful Dr. Calloway.

Ah, also a note for any pet owners out there who's animals might have eaten contaminated Iams. My clinic had a kitty there who has permanent kidney damage, but Iams is paying the vet bills of any animal that was injured. Kudos to Iams for doing the responsible and caring thing.

Yay, Maddie! EEEEEEK, Maddie!

And while I'm bummed about the whole food thing, good on Iams for doing the right thing.

Dayum, 4lg, that's a hefty kitty!

Think of all the money you'll save on fuel in the winter with your 27 pound heater cat sleeping on you.

Glad she's ok, and Yikes! Didn't know she'd gotten the bad stuff. Whew!

Huzzah Maddie!!! Hey, as for the weight - she doesn't look beefy, and she's a Maine Coon, aren't they supposed to be rather, um, substantial? ;) I loves her big feeeets! And, maybe like my friends' daughter, she gets some weight on her right before a growth spurt? I wouldn't fret too much, unless the vets did...did they?
Skritches for the Madeleine!!!

Elspeth, no, they didn't fret. There's no fat on her, they (and I) were just surprised how big she is already.

Poor little bunnygirl. What a life! A kitty has to be dragged to the vet, where stuff smells bad and people poke things in her! Give her a kiss on top of her furry head for me.

So glad she's OK. All the cats in my life (extended family of cats) are OK; my sister's cats had licked the gravy off the affected food but she only fed them it once. The whole thing is terrifying.
