Holy moly. From Spaceweather.com, I actually gasped when I saw this photo.
Minoru Yoneto of Queenstown, New Zealand took the picture on Jan. 30th shortly after a solar wind stream hit Earth, triggering a strong geomagnetic storm. "The comet lost its tail among the auroras," says Yoneto.
Comet Maxx is receding from Earth and fading, but it is still an easy target for photographers in the Southern Hemisphere.
Isn't it kind of Maxx to leave us with such glorious and comforting images?
Surely the best boy ever.

Purty, eh?
It does seem like Maxx. Truly gorgeous.
C'est tellement beau!
Adieu Maxx, tu étais très aimé
That boy sure knows how to put on a show, don't he?
Think Barbaro helped him with the production?
Bestest, bestest boy ever!
Just what we've come to expect from such a special guy. Maybe Molly was giving him encouragement.
I can still see his plushy tail! I hope he comes back soon, in another form just as beauteous! Oh, bonus Maxx goodness - my favoritest radio station turned into some loony rightie country music thang for a while - but driving home last night, I was surfing the airwaves, and it's just renamed itself - yes? Any guesses? MAXX, that's right! And it's playing all my favorite music. So Maxx is now on my car radio! What a darlin' boy!
