It's official. We are now a banana republic

I guess it makes sense. We have a guy named chimpy as the president. Who, incidentally, just pardonned Darth Cheney's BFF forever. Bush Commutes Libby Prison Sentence
WASHINGTON -- President Bush commuted the sentence of former aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Monday, sparing him from a 2 1/2-year prison term in the CIA leak case. Bush left intact a $250,000 fine and two years probation for Libby, according to a senior White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not been announced.
And from Commander Coo-Coo Bananas' statement:
Furthermore, the critics point out that neither Mr. Libby nor anyone else has been charged with violating the Intelligence Identities Protection Act or the Espionage Act, which were the original subjects of the investigation. Finally, critics say the punishment does not fit the crime:

Mr. Libby was a first-time offender with years of exceptional public service and was handed a harsh sentence based in part on allegations never presented to the jury.
How convenient. Libby obstructs justice, making sure that Fitzgerald can never make his case, and the president gives him a pass. And BTW, asshole, Libby was handed a stiff sentence because the judge said that as a high ranking public official, he should be held to a higher standard.

What a fucking travesty.

I will go to my grave believing that people died because of what Cheney and Scooter Libby did. And in my opinion, I believe that one or more of them should have been charged with abuse of office. Let's be clear about what happened- Cheney selectively declassified documents AND sent staff members out to smear a private citizen, just because he publicly disagreed with Bushco.

I don't give a fuck what the WAPO says, that is simply unconscionable in a just society.

This administration just proved once and for all that they have no respect for the constitution. A government with no respect for the constitution is illegitimate, in my humble opinion. It's time for torches and razor sharp pitchforks.

These sociopaths really are above the law, aren't they?

I'm in a rather enraged mood right now.

They think they're above the law.

We need to regain power and make sure none of them ever serve in government again.

Gov't, or a think tank, or tv.

If he commuted the sentence, but didn't pardon him, that means Scooter is still a convicted felon.

How long do you think before the convicted felon gets his security clearance back?

He'll be at a think tank with a security clearance.

And I think we broke the internets.

Well, I am finally ready to get serious on immigration reform. I think these assholes should be deported. Um ... hey, I think Iraq would be just the place. They can spend their remaining lives hiding away from the population in that gigantic embassy.

Cheney selectively declassified documents…
There must be a detailed bureaucratic procedure for declassifying documents. I'll bet Cheney didn't bother with the paperwork, he just told Scooter the info was declassified.

This would be one reason why Cheney's office stopped filing the reports on how they handled classified info in 2003.

It is dangerous to have a power-mad paranoid with Cheney's control of government … and Bush.

I believe he can declassify at will, because preznit coocoo bananas gave him that power.
