It kinda looked like that in the backyard 'scope. Actually I remember it without so much red. The eclipse at maximum had a very dark dull red color. I must admit to having a bit of a color vision deficiency however. The cool thing was the blue color on the edge of the Earth shadow.

We didn't get to see it in my neckofthewoods - it eclipsed just as dawn was lightening the sky and the moon was on the western horizon, also too many trees - - so thanks very much for these.

D'you know the old gospel song "Sinner Man" about Judgment Day? One verse goes,

Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to, all on that Day?
I'll run to the Moon. Moon, won't you hide me, all on that Day?
Moon says, Sinner Man, I will be a-bleeding, all on that Day...
