Not Nappy!!

"Mah head isn't nappy!"

But she is a fetching fool. (check out how long her ear tufts are, hilarious)

Seriously, on the Imus thing (yeah, we're all sick of it), the thing that bothers me the most isn't the racist part, though that is appalling, it's the mean and snarky tone of it.

Basically he said, "oh, look at those Tennessee players, they're a bunch of little hotties! But those Rutger girls, what a bunch of homely beasts." Fuck, if you wanted to make a young girl feel bad, could you think of a better way?

I've listened to sound clips all day of Imus whining about how he didn't mean it, and how sorry he is, but I'm sorry, there's something wrong with soemone who continually goes out of their way to say mean and derogatory things about women. I actually don't think he's a racist, but I do think he's an asshole. Just think of all the bile he's spewed in Hillary Clinton's direction (remember the "fat Satan" remark?). Blech. The knowing, joshing, judging tone of that conversation made me sick. "Boy, there sure are ugly, aren't they? They're so ugly the look like a crack ho from 10th Avenue!" "Yeah, you know it."

That kind of talk is wrong, hateful and unkind. I guess that's why Imus gets along so well with the beltway Bunch and the winger world. That's their M.O., isn't it?

Let's not forget his latest. "Those terms originated in the black community".

It's not his fault!! It's those black people!!

Wanker.

The wise centaur nails it. Imus is a blowhard. He's been one for a very, very long time. A large number of wealthy folks are now trying to figure out a way to condemn him without holding him accountable.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Interesting, his latest rationale. Let's make a logical extension, shall we?

Let's have ol' Cowboy Don come out of the confines of his nice little studio and visit my neighborhood. He can approach one my neighbors and call their wife/daughter/mother a "nappy-haired 'ho". I mean, it's used all the time in the black community, right? Yeah, I'd like to see that go down.

It's been my experience that one can be quite provocative when there are no consequences to one's actions. Make them ultimately accountable and you'll be surprised at how apologetic they can become.

BTW, did I mention who gives a fuck about Don Imus' opinion, anyway? The motherfucker is waaaaay past his sell-by date.

Instructive to hear the rich white guys making excuses for their buddy Imus.

James Carville was on some program today, excusing his "old friend." He looked uncomfortable, as if he does know it's unethical to insult and degrade these good young women. But he won't repudiate his rich white guy friend.

For loud mouth public insulters, this club is also open to Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin, who are considered honorary rich white guys for their mean spirited and vile insults to all those outside the club.

FLG - great post, and previous one also. You are so on the money - that it is the degradation of others (in this case young women) that supercedes the blatant racism. This applies to all his targets. His goal is to degrade and huimiliate. What's been so funny about this for so many years? This beast has always turned my stomach, and maybe it is not until now that it crystallized what it was --- the degradation of another human being. okay, rant over, back to fawning over Maddie.
