How much?

I just saw on CNN that the US has pledged $30 million for humanitarian relief in Lebanon.

Ummmkay.

Anyone have a dollar figure to the amount of aid we give to Israel each and every day? or how many millions in american munitions the IDF has dropped on Lebanon each day for the past fortnight?

It's like Billmon said the other day. "It's just like Vietnam, blow them up and then give them a bandaid." Color me unimpresssed.

There is something just a bit schizoid about giving laser-guided bombs to one side and humanitarian aid to the other. I think it goes to show just how out-of-touch the Bush administration is and what a low opinion they have of Arab intellect.

I think it's insane.

You're right, it's insane. They've rushed a billion dollars worth of advanced (I'd say "cutting edge," but my fingers hurt from the, uh, irony) weaponry to an Israeli army that is deliberately targeting civilians in defiance of all humanitarian law, then throw the Lebanese a crumb off the table. The Saudi government has just pledged 1.5 billion. How art thou fallen, O Lucifer, son of the morning! I am sickened, utterly sickened.
